About Stitched by JessaLu
Stitched by JessaLu was founded in 2008 by me, JessaLu, when I was incredibly burned out in my career path at the time and I felt that I needed to have a more creative outlet to make an income. When I was young, my grandmother taught me to sew and gave me the nickname JessaLu - so I decided that I would give a nod to her and the foundation she helped lay which grew into SbJL. I use a bee in my logo, and in each zipper pull, because it is believed by some that bees help pass messages to those who have passed on, and I like to think that every bag that goes on to live at a new home sends a little message to her that I am using the tools she taught me, and that I am grateful to her for them.
SbJL has grown to offer accessories as well as Project Bags, and I work to source the items that are not made by me, to be sure that they are either designed by women artists, or distributed by women owned businesses. Because I believe that women need to lift each other up.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my little corner of the web - I hope you will find a new cozy home for your project here. ~j
You can find SbJL bags online, at stockists in the Northeast, and at many festivals - take a look at the 'Find Me' page to see where SbJL bags will be!

Handmade
All bags are handmade by JessaLu on an antique Singer sewing machine that was manufactured in 1932. My studio is in my farmhouse that was build in the 1790's - lots of history surrounds these bags before they get into your hands!
***
Bags are lined with thick interfacing to help keep your project safe and coordinating fabrics - no boring cotton canvas here

Women Supporting Women
All accessories that are not sewn by Jess are wholesaled from women artists or other woman-owned small businesses, you purchase from me, you are actively helping me and other entrepreneurs support ourselves! No big corporations over here ;o)

Washable
You can wash your bag in the washer! If you are as much of a mess as I am (or just having a bad day), you can throw your bag into the washer on cool (some have used warm - stay with cool if your print is mostly red) and then air dry or if you like a softer bag, you can dry it in the dryer on low
